Meet the Guides of Wanderlust Fly Fishing
Sam is our head guide on the Yakima Rver and has been fly fishing for 30 years. Sam grew up among the greatest trout streams in North America, including the Bitterroot, Rock Creek, Blackfoot, and Big Hole rivers and has over 20 years’ experience behind the sticks. While attending Montana State University, Sam was a guide on the Yellowstone and Madison Rivers. After graduating college, Sam moved to Washington State to teach middle school and high school. That was when he fell in love with the Yakima River. Sam’s flexible teaching schedule makes it easy for him to pursue his other passion - guiding for trout on the Yakima!
As a Washington native, David has been fishing since he was old enough to hold a rod. His knowledge comes from a lifetime of fishing Washington rivers. David’s childhood was spent on the Skykomish River and its tributaries. As he got older though, he branched out to rivers across the entire state. David has spent countless hours honing his skills as an angler and as a guide. He has a passion for sharing the art and science of fly fishing. David’s specialty as a guide is catching steelhead and they can be caught every month out of the year in the state of Washington. David thoroughly enjoys instructing and building rapport with clients of all skills and abilities.
Mike Donley has had a fly fishing rod in his hands since he was seven years old. He has made a career of fly fishing and is a year-round professional fishing guide. He has a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Biology and enjoys teaching people, especially kids, about the ecosystems that make the rivers and oceans so special. His number one goal is to make sure everyone on his boat has the trip they envisioned, whether that includes never putting the rod down or just putting your feet up and watching the scenery go by!
Darrell is a highly skilled professional fly fishing guide with nearly 30 years of experience fishing the rivers on the Olympic Peninsula. Darrell uses specialized techniques and the most innovated tackle available. During the summer months, Darrell captains an offshore sport fishing boats. With the amount of time he spends on the water, he can pass on years of knowledge to help you not only catch fish but increase your ability as an angler no matter what your skill level.
